Anjakan Paradigma (Dwibahasa/Bilingual)
Coretan Tuntas Program Belia Antarabangsa Malaysia Kelima
Tarikh: 21-25 Julai 2018

Brief Reflection on 5th Malaysia International Youth Exchange
Date: 21-25 July 2018
Location: Bangi Avenue, Bangi, Selangor and Pelegong Village, Labu, Negeri Sembilan
Alhamdulillah, I'm grateful to Him for the opportunity to participate in this program. In my whole life, this is the third international program that I joined after the Malaysia-Turkey International Education Networking Program 2014 held in Turkey and Fully Residential School International Symposium (FRSIS2017) held at my school.
Throughout the program, I had the opportunity to meet and interact with regional friends from Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. In fact, there were two Pakistanis and a Mongolian who also participated in this program. Most of them are leaders of youth organizations and students in their countries. There were so many ideas, opinions and contributions which I exchanged with them during the program.
According to a Malay proverb ...
Berjalan jauh banyak dilihat...
Which means, if you travel far away from home, there are lots of things and knowledge that you will acquire in becoming a better person...
Despite the fact that the program was held in my own homeland, I can still feel the atmosphere of life as if in their country through the stories shared by them.
Therefore, here, I will write a sharing post briefly regarding my own self-reflection and thoughts on this program...
1. The Importance of Defending National Customs, Culture and Heritage
According to one of my friends from the Philippines, he is very impressed with our ability to defend our traditional customs and culture of the nation such as Adat Perpatih and Temenggung. He said, in Philippines, their nation's culture has eroded due to the influence from the foreign culture (West). Thinking about the effects of these influences, I was puzzled with some of us here who obsessed too much with foreign culture and look down upon our national culture. Meanwhile, they are impressed with our traditional traditions here such as the caklempong, kompang, lemang, Minangkabau wedding ceremony and others until now, they still craving the local dishes like Masak Lemak Cili Api, Nasi Lemak, Ayam Masak Kurma, Kari Ayam et cetera after they returned to their home country. Hopefully, we can continue to protect the historic culture of this country from vanishing.
2. Be Thankful for His Rewards
During staying in Pelegong Village, I saw most of my friends eating lots of local fruits such as Durian, Rambutan and Mangosteen! Almost every time when we went home, there were many fruits that they picked up after a long-day with packed activities such as the Visit to Fish Pond, Dairy Farm, Rubber Farm and Masak Lemak Cili Api, Lemang and Fritters/Cekodok Cooking Demonstration
Seeing such situation, I was wondering about it...
After asking them, they said that they appreciated the opportunity to eat local fruits here as much as they can as in their country, this fruits are very expensive and it is not easy to get it with a large amount.
Therefore, let us be grateful for all the blessings He has given to us as there are still some of our friends out there who are less fortunate compared to us here...
3. Appreciate the Diversity
Through this program, I also learnt to appreciate the diversity of traditional cultures and traditions that can be found in our region. During the Cultural Night, each country representatives including Malaysia have to perform any performances such as dancing/singing etc that reflect the national characteristics of their country. While watching every single show, I honestly felt that this Asian region was so unique with the diversity of cultures and traditions that still preserved despite the colonization by colonialists which trying to bring foreign cultures into the countries occupied by them, especially in this ASEAN region...
In a nutshell, the 5th Malaysia International Youth Exchange program has taught me the sense of gratitude and patriotic as well as opening up the mind in appreciating the diversity in this region. Lots of thanks to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysian Youth Council and PKPIM for the opportunity to participate in this program and hopefully, I'll be given this kind of opportunity again in the future, Insya-Allah...

Betul kata orang..
Berjalan jauh banyak dilihat...
